The National Museum is one of the historical and archaeological landmarks that attract many foreign tourists eager to learn more about Sudan. This museum provides a sense of tranquility, as it showcases the precision with which its archaeological artifacts are organized, reflecting the essence of a warm and hospitable people.
Inside, the museum is quite spacious, with halls that house a wide array of artifacts made from stone, leather, bronze, iron, and wood. These include sculptures, pottery, jewelry, wall paintings, weapons, and more.
The courtyard and garden of the National Museum serve as an open-air museum, featuring various temples, tombs, monuments, and statues of different sizes. These were salvaged from the areas of Wadi Halfa before the waters of the Aswan High Dam submerged them. They have been reassembled around a water basin representing the Nile River, giving the impression that they are in their original locations.
